Heinz Poll Summer Dance Festival
Ohio Ballet is gone but dancing under Akron dance tradition goes on.

Tomorrow (Friday) night is the start of this year's Heinz Poll Summer Dance Festival in Akron. For thirty-three years, Akronites have enjoyed free outdoor ballet performances from Heinz Poll and his Ohio Ballet. Two years ago Poll died and the company he started went out of business. But dancing under the stars has continued in Akron.

On July 18 and 19, Company C Contemporary Ballet from San Francisco at Goodyear Metro Park. Verb Ballets take the Hardesty Park stage during Akron's Art Expo on July 25 and 26. Ballet Theatre of Ohio performs at Firestone Park on Aug. 1 and 2. The season concludes with GroundWorks Dancetheatre at Glendale Cemetery on Aug. 8 and 9.
